About the studio
The story behind Loxley
As a child growing up in the UK my grandfather had a small woodshop in his garage that I was encouraged to explore and learn new skills in. Helping out where I could and making small pieces for myself and my family I found huge enjoyment shaping rough lumber, turning the ideas in my head into a reality.
Fast forward many years and working as a digital designer in Canada, I had the opportunity to design interior spaces for clients including Whistler Mountain and Nintendo of Canada, gaining valuable skills in computer aided design and manufacture as well as building strong trustworthy client relationships.
Building on my childhood passion and formal education in digital design, I began experimenting with woodworking again in 2016. Starting out small, I built pieces for myself, refining my skills and testing new techniques and materials. As my love for the craft was rekindled, friends and family started to take notice. I began creating unique pieces for them as well and eventually decided to pursue this passion full-time. In August of 2020 Loxley Studio was born.
